If you want to stop an opponents Sorin into Vein Ripper combo, you need to have a removal spell to deal with Vein Ripper, a creature to sacrifice to get around the ward effect, you have lost two life thanks to Vein Rippers ability while they put themselves ahead two life, and then you still have to deal with the Sorin on the board
That said, it doesnt do too much for oozes specifically, but making more oozes certainly helps

Heirloom Blade Heirloom Blade is a nice tool for a typal deck, as it ensures you always have a new creature to replace one youve lost
I will certainly be revisiting this and undergrowth things like it again
