It was probably an officer's private purchase. It has burrs at the front and fans at the back, these all have brass rings to allow for the attachment of equipment. The saddle has a spoon shaped cantle at the back. The Pommel and cantle are edged in brass. There would have been a ring or buckle on the pommel, this has been lost.
